Inflation of April 2025: Stable After Eid, Still Influenced by Electricity and Gold Tariffs

May 7, 2025 | Other Activities

After experiencing a spike in March, inflation in April 2025 was recorded at 0.66 percent (m-to-m). This figure shows that inflation is starting to come under control after Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1446 H, although there is still price pressure on several important commodities.

Electricity tariffs again became the biggest contributor to inflation, namely 0.84 percent, following the end of the 50 percent discount policy for non-subsidized customers. On the other hand, the price of gold jewelry which also increased due to soaring world gold prices also contributed to inflation of 0.15 percent. Other commodities that also contributed were tomatoes, cars and onions, each contributing 0.04 percent. Even though it decreased compared to the previous month which reached 1.96 percent, this data shows the need to be alert to fluctuating energy commodities and precious metals.
